“A-TEEN” director Han Su Ji recently had an interview with Joy News 24 at the Playlist office, where she talked about why she chose Kim Wooseok to play the male lead of “Twenty-Twenty.”
“Twenty-Twenty” is a teen drama where a 20-year-old Chae Da-hee, who has lived the path her mother has set, and a 20-year-old Lee Hyun-jin, who is independent, will meet and grow. It tells the story of 20-year-olds, who are just adults finding their dreams between freedom and responsibility for the first time.
Kim Wooseok plays Hyunjin, a young man who became independent alone in the drama. He is a rather lonely character who does music. Da Hee (played by Han Sungmin), on the other hand, will make a big difference in his life.
Han Su Ji said, “I thought a lot about the casting for Hyunjin. In the meantime, I met Kim Wooseok at the audition and he was very attractive,” she said. “You will know when the drama is released, but he shows deeper emotions than expected.”
“I was surprised to see how well he understood the script. As if he heard what the production team had talked about, he was good at understanding the character as well as the script analysis. I thought he would be good at immersing himself in the role of Hyunjin. In particular, Kim Wooseok is a real singer and he also makes his own songs as a hobby, which aligns since Hyunjin is a producer in the drama.”
She also expressed satisfaction with Kim Wooseok’s first acting experience. “I love the feeling of his eye contact and narration,” she said. “He express a lot with his eyes.”
Director Han Su Ji also said, “In the drama, there are 20-year-old friendships, dating, music, and fashion, but also stories of families. It would be interesting to see the confrontation and point-of-views between a confused parent and a child-like son who is currently entering adulthood,” she said.
The director also added, “My goal is to create a highly immersive drama that you will see until the end. If you look at it, you want to see it again, and it has a lot of topics. Please watch it a lot.”
In addition to Kim Wooseok and Han Sungmin, “Twenty-Twenty” also stars Park Sang Nam, Chae Won Bin, A.C.E’s Chan, Jin Ho Eun, Bae Hae Sun, and more. The first filming will begin in April, and it will be broadcast first in July through Playlist Studio.
