More details of Samsung’s next Galaxy Note smartphone have been revealed. IT blogger Evan Blass tweeted that the name will be Note 7 accompanied by a photo of what is believed to be the official logo.
IT websites Phone Arena and CNET were quick to report the news and said that there is a strong chance the details are accurate.
It is not clear why the follow-up model to the Note 5 skips the number six.
A Samsung spokesman said the official name will be decided early next month since the product is to be launched in August but added, “Yes it’s correct that ‘Galaxy Note 7’ is one of the names being considered.”
Industry watchers speculate that Samsung will jump straight to 7 because the Galaxy S series already has an S7 model.
Leaked photos of the next Galaxy Note handset have been circulating on the Internet since last month.
Predictions are that it will have an iris-scanning functions, 5.7-inch screen, 12 megapixel camera, 64GB memory and will be waterproof.
