On Monday of January 13th 2020, “The 92nd Academy Awards” has announced the final list of nominations for this year.

The Korean film “Parasite” by the Korean director “Bong Joon Ho” has been nominated for 6 Oscars: “Best Directing, Best Picture, Best International Feature Film, Best Film Editing, Best Original Screenplay and Production Design.”

Thus it became the first Korean film to be nominated for “Best Director and Best Picture” for the Oscars.

The 92nd Academy Awards will be held on February 9, 2020 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The Korean movie “Parasite” has achieved overwhelming success and received many awards in south Korea and internationally since it was released in 2019.

The film had become the first Korean movie to receive an award at the Golden Globes. It won “The Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language Film Award” on January 5, 2020 at The 77th Golden Globe Awards.

“Parasite” also won “the Palme d’Or award” at the 72nd Cannes Festival May 25, 2019 — making it the first Korean film ever to win this award and many other awards.

The South Korean President Moon Jae In congratulated the film director, Bong Joon Ho for these amazing achievements.

On the other hand, the Korean documentary “In the Absence” has been nominated for the Oscar award, “Best Documentary Short Subject” by director Yi Seung Jun and producer Gary Byung Seok Kam.
