Filipino ARMY of Worldwide Kpop sensation BTS creates a whalesome project entitled “8ternally with BTS” by adopting eight humpback whales from Babuyan Marine Corridor, Cagayan Province, Philippines, to celebrate BTS’ 8th anniversary this month.
The eight adopted humpback whales are under the care of Balyena.org – a non-profit organization involved in research, education, and conservation work on whales and dolphins in the Philippines. The dolphins’ names are under BTS members and ARMY. See photos below.

The said project was initiated by ARMY Cavite Fanbase, alongside the longest-running BTS fan club in the country, BTS PH – Bangtan Boys Philippines, TaehgersPh, and 14 other groups. According to Fritzie Alojepan (BTS PH – Bangtan Boys Philippines Administrator), whale adoption is only one of their projects for the group’s anniversary this month. She adds it was ARMY Cavite Fanbase who came up with the idea of adopting whales which also plays as a significant tribute to one of the BTS’ songs, “Whalien 52” released in 2015 as part of the album “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2.”
Meanwhile, Jo Marie Acebes, Founder of Balyena.org, says she is stunned that fans’ clubs support such advocacy groups, particularly the BTS ARMY. In fact, locals fanbases extend generosity as they donated PHP20,000 to support and continue Balyena.org’s research and conservation for the said animals.
On June 13 and 14, BTS will be commemorating its 8th anniversary through an online live-streaming event: BTS 2021 Muster Sowoozoo.
