K-pop englobes a big variety of sounds and we already know that, but a few groups are in the corners of that specter. Dreamcatcher is one of those and we had the opportunity to see their show in conjunction with MyMusicTaste, whom we’re gonna talk about in a moment. Their distinctive Rock-Metal style sound all over Chocolate Club in Santiago and representing the Korean music industry being the first solo show for a girl group made in the country.
We must remember that Dreamcatcher (드림캐쳐) have a close relationship with MyMusicTaste, their crowfunding project for a photobook was accomplished in just one hour and it was hosted in MMT page. According to the amount contributed, you can get a producer’s certificate to a personal thank you video.
A big row outside the venue already showed the expectation from the fans. Such amount of people delayed the show for some minutes. Chocolate Club is a small venue which gives an intimate sensation. It’s especially good considering Dreamcatcher’s charisma. One of the protagonists of the night were the covers in which the group was divided into three couples and one solo presentation. Even being considered as a niche group, global reception was quite good.As was mentioned before, the covers were an important segment of the night; starting with the worldwide famous “Despacito”, then the special stages with YooHyeon and GaHyeon interpreting “I” by TaeYeon, Jiu and HanDong with “Troublemaker” but Troublemakers, Sua and Dami covered the sexy “Move” by Taemin, and finally the solo stage of Siyeon with a rock rearrangement of “Fade” by the producer Alan Walker (which was in my opinion a master piece).
A interlude answering fan questions seal the link between the group and the fans. Kisses and even sexy time created the fresh atmosphere, which made the show even durable as it was only around two hours.
In summary, despite of a short show, Dreamcatcher sets a precedent for girl groups in the region with an amazing interpretation of both repertoire and covers that rocked the night. The interaction was on prime. The Q&A section that was full of fun and sassy moments helped the night flow incredibly well between stages.
