BTS once again broke records with the release of ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ last February 21.
On March 1, Billboard has announced that ‘Map of the Soul: 7′ debuted at No. 1 at the Top 200 charts. This is BTS’ fourth album to enter at the top spot.
According to Billboard, during the week ending on February 27, ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ earned 422,000 album units. It is the biggest week of any album released this year.
The sales breakdown are as follows: 347,000 traditional album sales, 26,000 track equivalent and 48,000 streaming equivalent- which translates to 74.7 million on-demand audio streams on it’s first week.
BTS also broke their own record with ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ with their US sales records. They also scored the biggest week of any album released by a group since One Direction’s ‘Made in the A.M.” in 2015.
RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook also became the first and only Korean artist in history to top Billboard 200 with four different albums.
Congratulations, BTS!
