Dorian Gray, a musical starring Kim Jun-su, a member of K-pop boy band JYJ, has been in trouble due to a series of cancellations. This brought shame to the production company, which claimed that the musical tickets were all sold out again with the sale of the first batch of tickets on July 13. Back then, around 40,600 tickets for 25 (from Sept. 3 through Sept. 30) out of 57 performances were sold out instantly.
As of Tuesday, however, only two performances on the first day or Sept. 3 are sold out. According to CJES Culture, which produced the musical, some 12,100 tickets, or around 30 percent of the total ticket sales, have been canceled.
Kim helped all tickets sold out in musicals where he starred such as Elizabeth, Count Dracula and The Death Note. Given his popularity, it is very unusual that tickets are cancelled en masse. The production company is anxious about any potential negative news or personal issue.
