YG Entertainment′s new girl group BLACKPINK has proven their rising popularity by sweeping Korean music charts and reaching number 1 on iTunes′ album chart. This is a record for a rookie Korean girl group.
As of August 10 at 7AM KST, BLACKPINK′s debut single album Square One took its place as number 1 on iTunes′ album chart and proved their global popularity as a rookie group.
At the same time, new track Whistle reached number 1 on Melon, Mnet, Naver Music, Olleh, Bugs, Genie and Soribada.
Along with the new track, the music video has also been receiving a lot of attention. The total views for the music videos of both title tracks Whistle and Boombayah have already reached almost 9 million views. Boombayah is an upbeat track that will cool down our summers while Whistle is a minimal hip hop track that is both dreamlike and sexy. BLACKPINK plans to show their various charm through these very different tracks.

Additionally, the BLACKPINK dance practice video, which was released on August 6, garnered over 7 million views.
BLACKPINK is a 4 member group that consists of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé. Their average age is 19 and the members have been training with YG anywhere between 4-6 years.
All eyes have been on BLACKPINK as they are YG Entertainment′s first girl group in 7 years and they have not disappointed. Within 2 days of their debut, they have swept Korean charts and reached international music charts.
