The remaining three members were revealed via Vlive on the consequent alternate days. Finally on January 28th at 11:00 am KST, YG Entertainment got the fans hyped as they officially revealed the name of the group to be “TREASURE“! A representative of agency stated, “By confirming that the name of our first boy group in four years is Treasure, we have officially begun the group’s debut process. Because CEO Yang Hyun Suk is directing the process himself, we anticipate the group to debut in no time.”
Yes that’s right! There will be another “YG Treasure Box” group 2.0 that will be debuting this year!
YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk plans to debut another new boy group this year, with a total of six members chosen from the trainees of “YG Treasure Box“.
Soon after revealing the name of the first new boy group “Treasure“, on January 29th, Yang Hyun Suk surprised everybody with an announcement via social media, that he will be revealing a new team of six members who will be debuting this year.
On January 30th at 11:00 am KST, the first member of the second group was unveiled to be Ha Yoonbin. On the following days, the other five new members were revealed to be Mashiho, Kim Doyoung, Yoshinori, Park Jihoon and Aashi. Check out the new line-up for YG second boy group from the ‘Treasure Box’!
On February 7th, news outlet Sports Seoul reported YG Entertainment’s plans to debut the groups together, as well as separately. Soon after that, on the same day Yang Hyun Suk confirmed the news via his blog post ‘FROM YG‘, announcing his plans to debut both groups as one big unit TREASURE 13.
At the opening of the blog post he explained, how he began writing the blog 18 years ago as a music composer to communicate with fans and to also answer to the fans’ curiosities regarding the artists. But the fans felt disappointed when the execution of some plans were delayed or cancelled, so he decided to restrain from writing the blog for around 4 years and only started again last year. Hence, he expresses that he hopes the fans would understand that the blog post announcements/ plans are subject to change and should be considered only as a reference or just as information from a close friend rather than expecting everything to happen.
Yang Hyun Suk continued and confirmed that he plans to debut all the 13 members as TREASURE 13 first, but they will be promoting as two separate groups as that will allow them to showcase more of their talent and strengths. He mentioned that he divided the 13 members into two groups rather than selecting them as ‘TREASURE 13’ because, from his previous experience of forming group with over 7 members, the individual parts and roles reduce significantly, which becomes a limitation for the artists. Therefore, after debuting as ‘TREASURE 13’ they will promote as two separate groups which will help emphasize on their individual capabilities.
With that, he mentioned that the first 7 member group will be called “TREASURE” as announced earlier and the second 6 member group will be named “MAGNUM“. The name “MAGNUM” refers to the 1.5 litre bottle of luxury wine, and as the common phrase goes ‘drunk on music’, the group aims to intoxicate everyone with their music.
He also mentioned that TREASURE 13 is scheduled to make their first debut somewhere between May and July of this year, and following that, groups TREASURE and MAGNUM will promote separately. Additionally, the debut preparation process and the daily life activities of the 13 members will be broadcast through a new reality program titled “Open the Treasure Box“- a term which was frequently used by Yang Hyun Suk on “YG Treasure Box” broadcast. The program will be broadcast on online platforms VLive and YouTube, for the easy access of global fans, and also on TV telecast platforms.
Yang Hyun Suk also revealed that the fan club name for TREASURE 13, TREASURE and MAGNUM is united to be one as-“Treasure Maker.” Since the fans play a vital role in the growth and success of the group, they will be called ‘Treasure Maker’ and also since it was frequently used throughout “YG Treasure Box” broadcast.
Regarding the strategy to launch the new group, he mentioned that unlike BIGBANG, WINNER and iKON, members of TREASURE 13 will not be pushed to participate in composing and writing their own music, so as to reduce the time gap between releases. For TREASURE 13, a team of YG Entertainment’s 30 music producers, The Black Label and the recently establish YGX will combine forces to produce music for the group.

On the D-day January 9th, ONEUS made their powerful debut with debut album “Light Us” featuring title track “Valkyrie“. The title track is a dance track, with a radiant guitar riff accompanied by heavy drums blended with hip-hop beats. The color concept of members majorly dressed in black and white outfits throughout the music video, is also very well reflected in the music as the song gradually leans towards aggressive beats from up-beat vibes. The title “Valkyrie” also encompasses two different meanings. One is the fantasy element which indicates the ‘valkyrie‘ from Norse mythology, and second is “to light up” which sounds similar to the word ‘valkyrie’ in Korean. The music video expresses how the members look for and set towards Valhalla, in search of light and the valkyrie. Check out “Valkyrie” below!
